My bike for the Atlas Mountain Race 2020
In February 2020 I will be participating in the Alas Mountain Race, an unsupported bike packing adventure taking place in the Atlas Mountains of Morocco. The route is about 1100 kilometers long and is laid mostly on trails and gravel paths across the High-Atlas and Anti-Atlas mountain ranges. Being an amateur, I choose to ride what I have. This means I will ride my steel Kona Sutra LTD 2019. Adjustments have been made and will continue to be made until the very last minute before departure.
Some of the main bicycle adjustments that have been made (not pictured here) are: - Wider tyres: will be riding on Schwalbe Racing Ron and Racing Ray 2.1"
- Smaller chainring: will be using a Wolf tooth oval 30t instead of the stock 36t (Race Face) - Schmidt Son dynamo hub
- Igaro D2 Pro USB charger
- New saddle: WTB Rocket instead of the SL8 that was included.
- Shimano SPD pedals XT PD-M8000
- Lizard Skins handlebar gel tape 3.2mm.
Other than that, most other adaptations will related to equipment, bags and accessories. Once the bike is all set I will be reporting my full set up, including equipment and accesseries.
